Rafael Obligado

Rafael Obligado (January 27 1851 - March 8 de 1920) was an Argentine poet and Playwright.

Obligado was the son of Luis Obligado y Saavedra and Maria Jacinta Ortiz Urien. During the 1880s he became known as "el poeta del Parana" (the poet of Parana). He wrote poetry with Gaucho themes, but using cultured and educated language. He was heavily influenced by contemporary French poetry.

Obligado's most famous play is called "Santos Vega".
