Cabrero


Cabrero is a commune in the Bio-Bio Province, Bio-Bio Region, Chile. Integrates with communes of Bulnes, Cobquecura, Coelemu, Ninhue, Niquen, Quillon, Quirihue, Ranquil, San Carlos, San Fabian, San Nicolas, and Yumbel. Electoral District No. 42 and the 12th Senatorial Circumscription (Eighth Coastal Region).

History

The city of Cabrero, has its origins in the progressive group of people, which established a station to serve the needs of the inhabitants of several rural properties in the area, and then the arrival of immigrants mainly from Middle East and Italy.

Demography

Cabrero commune covers an area of 639.8 km2 and a population of 25,282 inhabitants (INE Census Year 2002), corresponding to 1.25% of total regional population and a density of 39.52 inhabitants per km2. Of the total population, 12,394 are women (24.69%) and 12,888 are men (25.68%). A 3.35% (7.245 pop.) Corresponds to rural population, and 8.33% (18.037 pop.) Corresponds to urban population.

Municipality

It is represented in the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress by Nicolas Monckeberg (RN) and Jorge Sabag (PDC). Is represented in the Senate by Senators Alejandro Navas (PS) and Hosain Sabag (PDC). The Municipality of Cabrero is led by Mayor Hasan Sabag.
