Bernardo Houssay

Bernardo Alberto Houssay was an Argentine physiologist who received (with Carl and Gerty Cori) the 1947 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for his discovery of the role played by pituitary hormones in regulating the amount of blood sugar (glucose) in animals.

Bernardo Alberto Houssay was born on April 10, 1887, in Buenos Aires, to a French couple who had immigrated to Argentina, Dr. Albert and Clara Houssay.
