Sergio Fajardo Vallardo, a mathematician from University of the Andes, Colombia turned politician, was the mayor of Medellin from 2003 to 2007. He ran as an independent. Fajardo was granted a Ph.D. from the University of WisconsinMadison.
Fajardo is a presidential hopeful for the 2010 election.
Fajardo graduated (high school) from the Colegio Benedictino, y has a mathematician degree and masters by the Universidad de los Andes - Bogota. Later he got PhD in mathematics with minor in economy by University of Wisconsin-Madison, in the US.
