Ilia Calderon Chamat is a Colombian journalist and newscaster, born 1972 in Istmina, Choco.
In March 2007 she left Telemundo to host Univision Primer Impacto's weekend edition. In 2009 Primer Impacto's Host Fernando del Rincon was fired and Ilia became a regular co-host on the Monday-Friday edition with Barbara Bermudo leaving the weekend edition to Satcha Pretto.
TVnotas featured a pictorial on the Colombian journalist and a man who appears to be her new boyfriend. What is a little disconcerting (although still not entirely surprising) is their insistence on defining him -and, to an extent, Ilia herself - by his / her nationality and race. On their cover, TVnotas advertises the story under the charming headline Morenaza con japones! Which, you know. Yeah, shes dark-skinned. And, yes, hes Japanese. But are these the most interesting things about them? Would they have reported on this couple had they both been Latin American?
