Walter Herrmann is an Argentine professional basketball player for the Detroit Pistons. He is of German descent. He lost his mother, younger sister and his girlfriend in a car accident. Exactly one year later, his father died of a heart attack. He is a key reserve on the Argentina national basketball team, and signed a one-year contract for $2M with a team option for a 2nd year to play for the Charlotte Bobcats during the 2006-07 NBA season. He is listed at 6' 9", 225 lb and has dual citizenship: Argentine and Spanish.

On December 14, 2007, Herrmann, along with center Primoz Brezec was traded to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for center Nazr Mohammed.
