Diego Mateo is an Argentine football midfielder who has played professional football in Argentina, Italy and Spain, he currently plays for Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy in Argentina.
Mateo started his professional career in 1996 with Newell's Old Boys, where he made 87 appearances, scoring 4 goals. In 2000 he joined lecce in Italy but left the club after making only 2 first team appearances.
