Central Norte
Club Atletico Central Norte is a football club from Salta city, Argentina. They play in Zone A of the Torneo Argentino B, which is the regionalised fourth tier of the Argentine Football Association league system.
The club was founded in Salta on March 9, 1921, and took its name from the state-owned Ferrocarril Central Norte whose railway line crossed the province of Salta.
2007 match fixing scandal
At the end of the Clausura 2007 tournament, Central Norte were found guilty of fixing a 1-1 draw with 9 de Julio de Rafaela which was all 9 de Julio needed in order to qualify for the end of season playoffs denying central Norte's rivals Juventud Antoniana a place.
After an investigation the 9 de Julio were replaced by Juventud Antoniana in the quarter finals. The evidence took the form of a video of the agreement which was broadcast on Argentine Sports channel TyC Sports.
The club will begin the 2008 Apertura tournament with a deduction of six points and their manager; Victor Riggio has been banned from football for five years.
