CNNBS (CANNABIS) is a hard rock band from Buenos Aires, Argentina. The band has gained notoriety in recent years because of continuous playing, and because of their unique (and never before heard in Argentina) musical style. The band has also won several contests and battle of the bands in Buenos Aires, but there are no linkable references. Formed in 2002 by Martin Johnson on Lead Vocals, Emiliano Galarraga on Bass and Backing Vocals, Frank Viggiano on (left) Guitar, Federico Busse on (right) Guitar and Matt Teran on Drums and percussion, CNNBS is currently playing local bars and theatres in Buenos Aires and other provinces as part of the national tour the band is doing independently all over the country. Early Years
Although the band is considerably new, all members have had previous rock and roll bands that have provided them with both recording and road experience. Martin Johnson was Lead Singer on the rock band "heiti leida", where he also played with drummer Matt Teran. This band was co-funded by Johnson and Singer/Guitarrist Javier Lanne (currently of rock band "The Godlike") (heiti leida 1994-1999). Emiliano Galarraga (aka "The Gorra"), played bass and sang in the punk rock band B.D.I (1990-1998). B.D.I. gained notoriety itself by touring with famous argentine rock group Cabezones. Frank Viggiano played Guitar in the band "The Ann Melton's" (1996-2000). Federico Busse played Guitar in the Heavy Metal band "BlackFish" for a couple of years and together with Matt he currently plays in a Jazz band called B.T.G (Busse-Teran-Garcia)(2006-To present).
Musical Style
As well described by music critic Sophie Albertelli "CNNBS has a very-own, unique style, well built in the hard rock CNNBS is Hard Rock 1 CNNBS is Hard Rock 2 gender, with influences of rock bands ranging from Led Zeppelin and early-Aerosmith to Guns n' Roses and Soul Asylum". CNNBS has a classic rock band structure: Drums, Bass, 2 Guitars, and a Lead Vocal. Many coincide that CNNBS is a Live band with great live performances rather than a quiet studio band.
Discography
To the date, CNNBS has a demo tape titled 0 (zero) CNNBS Zero 1 CNNBS Zero 2 which includes 3 songs: "Cosmic Trip" ("Viaje Cosmico" in it's Spanish version) Viaje Cosmico in Babilonia Libros, "Bedohuin" (same in Spanish) and "Looking in the eye" ("Sobre Miradas"). An alternate version of "zero" was released with a bonus track: a live recording of cover song "love me two times" from legendary rock group "The Doors". A full-length piece is planned for the end of 2008 (or beginning of 2009) and will most likely have a 12-track listing that will include the songs the band has been playing in recent shows. CNNBS's debut album is suppossed to come out for distribution on a major record label, but nothing is confirmed yet.
