Efrain Goldenberg

Efrain Goldenberg Schreiber, or "Efraim," served as Peru's finance minister, foreign relations minister, and prime minister in the 1990s.

Early life

Efrain Goldenberg was born on December 29, 1929, in Lima, Peru, to Jewish parents. He studied in Colegio San Andres (formerly named as Anglo-Peruvian School).

He studied humanities and law at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima from 1946 to 1952.

Political career

On February 17, 1994, he was sworn in as Prime Minister of Peru, a position that he held until 1995. He was Peru's foreign relations minister prior to this office.
