Gaston Nicolas Fernandez is an Argentinan football player who currently plays for UANL Tigres in Mexico.

"La Gata" ("The Cat"), as he has been dubbed, previously played for River Plate in Argentina and was loaned for a big amount to Club de Futbol Monterrey. After the contract finished, Monterrey refused to pay the nearly two million dollars to permanently buy Gaston, thus, prompting Gaston to return to River Plate in December 2006.

But just like in CF Monterrey, Gaston wasn't needed either in River Plate. Passarella, the coach of River, though the team had enough strikers, so the player was sold to San Lorenzo de Almargo. In San Lorenzo "La Gata" revindictated his career. He became the best scorer of his team and won the Clausura 2007 championship. In 6 months he achieved more than what he did with River Plate in 2 years. By the end of his first tournament with San Lorenzo in May 2007, he planned to returned to Monterrey, but San Lorenzo didn't let him go.
