9 de Julio de Rafaela
Club Atletico 9 de Julio (sometimes referred as 9 de Julio de Rafaela) are a football club from Rafaela in Santa Fe, Argentina. They currently play in Torneo Argentino A, which is the regionalised third tier of the Argentine Football Association league system.
2007 match fixing scandal
At the end of the Clausura 2007 tournament, 9 de Julio were kicked out of the quarter finals of the promotion playoff and replaced by Juventud Antoniana. This came about because 9 de Julio were found guilty of fixing a 1-1 draw with Central Norte which was all they needed in order to qualify for the end of season playoffs.
The evidence against the clubs took the form of a video of the agreement which was broadcast on Argentine Sports channel TyC Sports.
The club will begin the 2008 Apertura tournament with a deduction of six points and their manager; Jorge Solterman has been banned from football for five years.
