The plains of Tucume are part of the Lambayeque Valley, the largest valley of the North Coast of Peru. The Lambayeque Valley offers scores of natural and man-made waterways and is also a region of about 250 brick pyramids. The largest of these, the Huaca Larga, measures 700 meters in length, 280 meters in width, and 30 meters in height. The discovery of the Tucume pyramids was accidental. People were in search of gold they stumbled upon the ancient pyramid ruins.
