Teofilo Cubillas
Teofilo Juan Cubillas Arizaga is a Peruvian former footballer.
Nicknamed "Nene" (the babe) for his boyish looks, Cubillas was born near Puente Piedra, Lima. His career began with the Peruvian club Alianza Lima at the age of 16. The following year he left his homeland to play for Swiss football club FC Basel, signing a contract for $97,000. Unable to settle in Switzerland, Cubillas moved to Portuguese club FC Porto with a $200,000 contract.
Cubillas returned to his former team Alianza in 1977, and in 1979 he signed with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League, where in 5 seasons he scored 65 goals, including 3 goals in 7 minutes against the Los Angeles Aztecs in 1981. In 1985, he joined the Fort Lauderdale Sun of the U.S. second division United Soccer League (USL).
