Cesar Andres Carignano (born September 28, 1982) is a footballer from Argentina who plays as Forward, recently transferred back to FC Basel after a brief stint at Club America during the Copa Libertadores 2007.
Club career
He started his career in 2000 with Colon de Santa Fe in his homeland of Argentina. He spent 4 years there, scoring 27 goals in 79 games. At the start of the 2004/05 season FC Basel paid ₤1.8m to acquire his services. His fee didn't seem to be paying off as he played only 19 games and scoring a mere 7 goals from 2004-2007. Basel decided to loan him out to Club America for the 2007 Copa Libertadores in hope that he would rediscover his past form. He did not play any games during his time at America and returned to Basel ahead of the 2007/08 season.
International career
Some of his career highlights are his 3 caps for the Argentinian national football team. He earned these caps from 2003-2004, while he was still at Colon de Santa Fe.
