Argentine Film Critics Association Awards
Silver Condor Award
The Argentine Film Critics Association Awards are given by the Argentine Film Critics Association to honor achievement in Argentine cinema by Argentine-based journalists and correspondents. In Spanish the association is named: Asociacion de Cronistas Cinematrograficos de la Argentina.
The association was organized on July 10, 1942 and the annual awards have been given since 1943, with breaks in between.
The Argentine Film Critics Association is a member of the International Federation of Film Critics, also known as FIPRESCI.
According to the Internet Movie Database the association has given awards the following years: 1943-1957, 1959-1974, 1981-1983, 1985-today.
As of January 2007 the Secretary General of the association is Pablo De Vita.
Silver Condor
The Silver Condor (Condor de Plata) is given to Argentine films in various areas, the best Ibero-American film, and the best foreign film. A Special Condor is sometimes given, and the Career Condor is given on a regular basis.
