Elias Jaua

Elias Jaua Milano (1969 - ) is a Venezuelan politician and former university professor. He obtained a Sociology degree from the Central University of Venezuela. In 2000 he was part of the Comision Legislativa Nacional and Minister of the Secretaria de la Presidencia from 2000 to 2001. He was nominated as Venezuelan Ambassador to Argentina in 2002, however he was not confirmed by the foreign ministry of Argentina due to his close relationship to the carapintadas and other leftist movements in Buenos Aires as reported by the newspaper El Clarin. He became Vice President in Hugo Chavez's government in January 2010, having previously been Agriculture Minister, a position he continues to hold.Reuters, 26 January 2010, UPDATE 1-Venezuela's Chavez names Jaua as new vice president
