Universidad de Concepcion
The University of Concepcion , one of the Chilean Traditional Universities, is one of Chile's oldest and most prestigious universities, and one of the most important outside of the capital, Santiago. Its founder was Enrique Molina Garmendia.
History
In 1919, the University of Concepcion was founded, becoming the first regional university in Chile. The University's founder, Enrique Molina G., was also its first President proposed that "this new University, in addition to professional education in liberal arts and technical sciences, as required by the development and increased national wealth, will be center of information for the public, outreach, scientific research and experimentation, and the promotion of best literary, humanist and philosophical culture".
Colleges, campuses and faculties
The University holds 18 faculties distributed in 3 campuses: Concepcion (central campus), Chillan and Los Angeles.
Campus Concepcion:
In Concepcion, at 515 km. from Santiago, is the central campus of the University of Concepcion. Is well known like the "Universitary District", because all the academic activities are concentrated on only one place.
