Sonya Smith
Sonya Smith is an American actress best known for her roles in telenovelas. She is the daughter of Venezuelan actress Ileana Jacquet and her American husband.
While born in the United States, Smith grew up in Venezuela and identified herself with Venezuelan culture. Her breakthrough came in the early 1990s when she played Estrella Montenegro, the main character in Cara Sucia. Smith remains a popular actress in Venezuela. In 2006, she returned to telenovelas with Olvidarte Jamas, which was shot in Miami. She resides in Miami, Florida with her fiance, Destino de Mujer co-star Jorge Reyes.
