Chico Carrasquel

Alfonso (Chico) Carrasquel Colon was a Venezuelan shortstop in Major League Baseball. Carrasquel batted and threw right-handed. He was born in Caracas. He is the nephew of Alex Carrasquel and the uncle of Cris Colon.

The first in a great line of Latin American Chicago White Sox shortstops, Carrasquel was also the first Latin-American All-Star in major league history. "El Chico" became the third Venezuelan to play in the majors after right-handed pitcher Alex Carrasquel and 1B/OF Chucho Ramos . His major league career began with the Chicago White Sox, where he played from 1950 through 1955.
