Manuel de Ascasubi

Manuel de Ascazubi y Matheu served as Vice President of Ecuador from 1847 to 1851 and in that capacity he was also acting President from 10 October 1849 to 10 June 1850.

Don Manuel Ascazubi y Matheu was born in Quito (1804). His parents were Don Jose de Ascazubi y Matheu and dona Mariana Matheu y Herrera of Quito landed aristocracy. He married Carmen Salinas de la Vega, daughter of Juan de Salinas one the original leaders of the rebellion against Spain.
