Guillermo Rodriguez (politician)

General Guillermo Rodriguez Lara, known as "Bombita", a graduate of the United-States-run School of the Americas, was the dictator of Ecuador from February 6, 1972 to January 11, 1976. He was born on November 4, 1924 in Pujili, in the province of Cotopaxi.

As commander of the army, he led a military coup d'etat executed by a navy commander named Jorge Queirolo G. and exiled the previous president, Jose Maria Velasco, to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
