Louis Lliboutry


Louis Lliboutry was an early French-Chilean glaciologist, geographer and Andean mountaineer. One of his most famous works is the extensive treaty of Nieves y Glaciares de Chile: Fundamentos de glaciologia published in 1956. Lliboutry's works concentrated to the glaciology of the Dry Andes and Wet Andes, specially in the surroundings of Santiago. One of his most notable contributions were about the formation of penitentes.
