Historic church of Cucuta

The Historic church of Cucuta is in the locality of Villa del Rosario (Cucuta) where Simon Bolivar, Francisco de Paula Santander and other important persons of the independence of Colombia and Venezuela reunited to sign the Constitution of Cucuta in August 30 of 1821, which main target was the creation of one republic unifying New Granada (Colombia and Panama) and Venezuela. Later, Ecuador was integrated to the unification.

Inside of it there is a statue of Simon Bolivar. At the moment is part of the Park of the Great Colombia. Due to the Earthquake of Cucuta that happened the May 18 of 1875, the church is in ruins.
