Bavaria Brewery

Bavaria Brewery , formally known as Bavaria S.A., is a Colombian brewery company founded in April 4, 1889 by Leo S. Kopp, a German immigrant. It is a subsidiary of SABMiller. Before the merger, Bavaria was the second largest brewery in South America and the tenth one in the world.

History

1889. The corporation Kopp's Deutsche Brauerei Bavaria was created on April 4, 1889.

1902. Cerveceria Union was founded in Medellin.

1910. La Pola beer was launched to the Colombian market .

1913. Cerveceria Barranquilla was founded.

1913. Aguila beer was launched.

1930. Consorcio de Cervecerias Bavaria is created, as a result of the merge of Kopp's Deutsche Brauerei and other regional breweries.

1933. Cerveceria Barranquilla y Bolivar S. A. was founded.

1959. Consorcio de Cervecerias Bavaria changed its name to Bavaria S.A.

1967. Cervecerias Bolivar and Barranquilla were merged to create Cerveceria Aguila S.A.

1967. Merge of Cervecerias Aguila and Bavaria.

1972. Bavaria purchased Cerveceria Union from Medellin.

1973. Cerveceria Bavaria was inaugurated in Bogota.

1975. Bavaria purchased the plant of Cerveceria Litoral, located in Barranquilla.

1981. Bavaria became an open corporation with shares at the Colombia Stock Exchange.

1992. Malteria Tropical was inaugurated in Cartagena.

1994. Production of bottled drinking water and fruit refreshments started.

1996. Grupo Empresarial Bavaria was created.

1997. First split of Valores Bavaria, which separated Bavaria S.A. to be exclusively focused on beverages; consolidated in 2001.

2000. GEB acquired 44.2% of Cerveceria Leona in Colombia.

2001. GEB purchased 91.5% of Cerveceria Nacional in Panama.

2001. Bavaria restructured its productive platform.

2002. Launching of Aguila Light beer .

2002. GEB invested in Corporacion Backus of Peru and purchased the majority of shares with right to vote.

2003. Cervezeria Nacional became part of GEB.

2003. Bahia beer was launched .

2004. Agua Brisa with gas and Malta Leona Cool were launched to the market .

2004. GEB became the tenth brewing group in the world.

2005. In October this year GEB became part of SABMiller.
