Club Universitario

Universitario de Sucre is a Bolivian football team playing at the top level, the Liga de Futbol Profesional Boliviano. It is based in Sucre. founded in 1962, it spent most of the years playing in the 2nd division, except for a few years during the mid 80's where it played in the 1st division and re-gained a place in the top league in 2006.

The team became a pleasant surprise when, during its first year back on the main division it finished 3rd on the Clausura tournament and qualified for that year's Copa Sudamericana. After a difficult 2007 season where the team finished 10th on the general standings, the team kept faith on its base team and under the guidance of players like Jaime Robles, Marcelo Gomes and Carlos Castilla the team won the 2008 Apertura tournament and became the first team from Sucre to ever do so and the setting the second fastest league win after coming from 2nd division.

Their home stadium is Estadio Olimpico Patria.

The team is owned by the University of Saint Francis Xavier, Sucre's public university.
