Villa Alberastain

Villa Aberastain is an Argentine city of the province of San Juan, head of the department Pocito, and the headquarters of the municipal authorities of the department. Villa Aberastain is within the so-called Valley of Tulum, the main agricultural oasis in the province is concentrated and where 90% of the provincial population. The village is located about 15 kilometres from the low foothills of the Great St. John. National Route No. 40 passes a few kilometres east of the town and communicates with the provincial capital and the city of Mendoza.

The Sierra Chica de Zonda is located about four kilometres west, however, all the ejido of the town is settled in the alluvial plains formed east of the same.


Being a city its economy is based on wine production and the cultivation of vegetables and fruit, with some industrialization of the same. These crops are possible because of irrigation caused by several different channels, including the most important is the channel Cespedes. The smallholding is the most widely practiced.


It has 8,946 inhabitants , which represents an increase of 36.0% compared with 6,578 inhabitants of the previous census. Villa Aberastain form a single urban agglomerate together with the nearby town of La Rinconada, called Aberastain - La Rinconada, whose population amounted to 11,879 inhabitants , this magnitude puts his fourth agglomerate of the province.

Urban Appearance

It's company has lines connecting the town with the city of San Juan and other districts of the Department Pocito as La Rinconada and fifth quarters. Other company is New South, is responsible for connecting to the Villa Aberastain with Media Village Wate, and the Company The company manages Triumph is the line that connects the town with the District of Medano Gold and Villa Krause.
