The Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (National University of Cuyo, UNCuyo) is the largest center of higher education in the province of Mendoza, Argentina.
It was established in 1939 in order to fulfill the educational needs not only of Mendoza, but also of the provinces of San Juan and San Luis. However, in 1973 San Juan and San Luis created their own National Universities, leaving the National University of Cuyo exclusively for the province of Mendoza and for the Balseiro Institute.
As of 2005, the university has 12 academic units in the city of Mendoza and a delegation in the city of San Rafael (province of Mendoza), in addition to the Balseiro Institute which is located in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche (province of Rio Negro). It also includes the University Technological Institute which offers technical education in 4 cities in the province of Mendoza.
