Matias Rico

Matias Rico (1983 - 14 April 2002) was an Argentinian race driver.

On the second lap of an Argentine Formula Renault race at Rio Cuarto, Matias Rico spun in the middle of the main straight across the track with the rest of the field in full acceleration. Matias Milla then hit him broadside at a speed of circa 180 km/h.

In the crash, Rico lost consciousness and suffered serious internal injuries. He was transported to the San Lucas local hospital. On the way, Rico suffered two heart failures. He never regained consciousness and died one hour later.
