Boca Juniors de Cali was one of the most important teams of its time. It had been in second place at the end of the 1951 and 1952 seasons, finishing behind Millonarios of Bogota in both cases.

It was also the champion of the Copa Colombia in the 1950-1951 and 1951-1952 seasons. In the 1952-1953 season, they finished in second place, once again behind Millonarios.
