Hispanic Australian (Spanish: Hispanico Australiano) is a term for Australian citizens with ancestry from Spanish-speaking regions. Sometimes, Hispanic Australians are confused with Spanish Australians or Latino Australians. Hispanic Australians are called Latino Australians if their origin is from Spanish-speaking Latin America (thus from Latinoamericano meaning “Latin American”, whether Argentine, Chilean, Cuban, or Mexican) and this may include Brazilian origin if his/her ethnicity and language are Spanish, and on the other hand, are called Spanish Australians if their origin is from Spain. Same thing with Latino Australians who exclude Spanish Australians as Spain is not located in Latin America and many Filipino Australians are of Spanish blood but are not categorized Hispanic Australians as they never speak Spanish.
Hispanic Australians are composed of Spanish Australians i.e. their racial identity is directly from Spain and sometimes Gibraltar, Spanish-speaking Latin-American Australians, and Equatorial Guinean Australians. Latin American Australians are maybe of African, Native American, Asian, mestizo, mulatto, and Spanish and other European descent; Equatoguinean Australians are maybe of African, Spanish, and mulatto blood; and Spanish Australians and mentioned groups are also of Sephardic Jewish ethnicity. Because there is an ethnic diversity within Hispanic Australians, they are considered cultural and/or linguistic rather than homogenous ethnic group.
