Hello, Can anyone recommend a tour guide/operator that is economically priced and can take my group of 6 up to Q'ero nation? We need auto transportation from Cusco to Paucartambo. Then a guide/translator to lead us up to the Q'ero villages of Queros and Hapu. We need a cook to bring and prepare food as well. Any recommendations with contact information would be most welcome. Many thanks, Kerri Bodmer

Hello,

my name is Antoine GEORGE, French living in Peru for 12 years. I have been working with the Q'ero people for 9 years with an anthropologist and I know all the communities and their whole territories (Markachea, Totorani, Hatun Q'ero, Quiko y Japu). I have friends in each annex of each community. In the case I cannot go leading myself I have a very good friend, a cusco anthropologist, who also knows very well the Q'ero people and territory, and who might be interested.

Transportation to Paucartambo is not a problem but If you want to travel to Q'ero the best is to eat with the locals. They also can welcome you to stay at their home. In fact this is the best way to visit them and cross their territory. The more you put distance between you and them the less welcome you will be.

I took a photo reporter to Japu in february and we had to atend general assembly for 6 hours at night in order to explain the reason of our presence and to be authorized to take photos

What is your project ? How many days do you think to stay there? Are you aware that to go from Paucartambo you will have to cross the whole territory and go through 7 to 8 high passes at more than 4700m ? What is your budget ?

I am waiting for your answer

Kind regards

Antoine GEORGE

Dear Kerri,

I "Googled" you, as I had no luck with the phone numbers I have. I was in Altadena working on the house and wanted to see you. We need to catch up. If you get this, email me at [email protected]

Love,
Erin
