Maria Rodriguez (singer)
Maria Rodriguez was born in Cumana, Sucre state, Venezuela, July 22, 1924, is an important folk singer and dancer of the Venezuelan eastern. Initiates her career as musician since she was a kid, in folk celebrations like: Comparsas, Velorios and folk theater. Also directed the Folk Dance group of the UDO (Universidad de Oriente).
As a folk singer, her repertoire includes Fulias, aguinaldos, gaitas, golpes, eastern joropo, diversiones, zumba que zumba, malaguenas and merengue oriental.
For a long time was accompanied by the musical group El Chiguao, directed by Atanasio Rodriguez, appearing in important scenes of Venezuela, United States, Portugal, ...
