Alberto Callaspo

Alberto Jose Callaspo [ky-AS-po] is a baseball infielder for the Kansas City Royals. He was originally signed by the Los Angeles Angels organization, but only played in their minor league system. The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired him on February 28, from the Angels for pitcher Jason Bulger.

Minor league career

Through 2005, Callaspo was a .315 hitter with 24 home runs, 294 RBIs, and 73 stolen bases in 544 games.

In 2006, Callaspo was named the Diamondbacks' Minor League Player of the Year after hitting .337 with an on-base percentage of .404 in 114 games at AAA Tucson.
