TANS Peru

TANS Peru (Transportes Aereos Nacionales de Selva) was an airline based in Lima, Peru. It operated scheduled domestic flights. Its main base was Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM), Lima. On January 7, 2006 the airline's license was suspended by the Peruvian Government.

History

The airline was established in 1963. It was originally part of the Peruvian air force. It underwent civil aviation authority certification in October 1999 and switched from its military operations licence to a civil one in November 1999. It was wholly owned by the Peruvian government.

Incidents and accidents

On January 9, 2003, TANS Peru Flight 222 crashed into a mountain after leaving Chiclayo near Chachapoyas. [*].

Two years later, on August 23, 2005 TANS Peru Flight 204 crashed outside Pucallpa.

Services

TANS Peru operated services to the following domestic scheduled destinations: Arequipa, Cuzco, Iquitos, Juliaca, Lima, Piura, Pucallpa, Puerto Maldonado, Tacna, Tarapoto and Tumbes.
