The Hotel Monasterio is a luxury five-star hotel in Cuzco, Peru. It is a refurbished baroque monastery built in the seventeenth century. It is located two blocks from the Plaza de Armas, an important touristical site. It is a ten minute drive from the Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport. The hotel has 109 Guest Rooms, 12 Junior Suites, 1 deluxe suite, 2 royal suites, and 3 presidential suites. It has 127 rooms in total. Because of Cusco's altitude at almost 3 and a half kilometers (2mi.) above sea level many of the rooms have oxygen pumped in directly to help altitude sickness. The Hotel Monasterio has ranked the best hotel in all of South America 1.
