Amauta was a Peruvian journal published between 1926 - 1930 in Lima by Jose Carlos Mariategui. Amauta was considered one of the most complete publications of its time in relation to art, culture, science and politics.

Amauta is a quechua word meaning a person of great wisdom. More of a philosopher than a doctor, yet more pragmatic than a fortune-teller. Amauta is professor or master in quechua.
