Ecuador at the 1996 Summer Olympics
Ecuador competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States. The nation from South America won its first Olympic medal when Jefferson Perez won the gold medal in the men's 20 km walk. The Comite Olimpico Ecuatoriano, the Ecuadorian National Olympic Committee, was created in 1948 and recognized by the IOC in 1959.
