Salvador Camacho Roldan (1827 - 1900) was a noted Colombian economist and politician. He was sometimes called the "founder of sociology" in Colombia.
Camacho was born in Nunchia, Casanare, and became a lawyer in 1847. By 1860, he had already been governor of Panama and both a Representative and Senator in the Colombian Congress. At this time, he began to write academic articles about the social consequences of economic actions.
