Independiente Santa Fe

Santa Fe Corporacion Deportiva is a Colombian football (soccer) team. Independiente Santa Fe has participated in several international championships like Copa Libertadores, Copa Merconorte, and Copa Conmebol.


The team was founded on 28 February, 1941. In 23 March, 1941 Independiente Santa Fe initiated its activities as a club. Originally, it was born in the campus of Gimnasio Moderno, in Bogota. Independiente Santa Fe won its first championship in 1948, becoming the First Colombian champion. After this, Independiente Santa Fe obtained the 1958, 1960, 1966, 1971 and 1975 championships.

In 2005, the main fan association, LGARS (La Guardia Albirroja Sur), with the help of Samsung, Independiente Santa Fe's main sponsor, and the club's administration, put together the largest soccer flag in the world. The flag, named the 'Lienzo de Fe' (Linen Cloth of Faith), is 350 meters long and 38 high, covering the southern end of 'El Campin', where the team's fans locate in home games. The flag is shown on every home game.

In 2005, the team played the "repechaje" to Copa Libertadores in 2006, after the next team, Tolima, was eliminated for the final stage of the 2005 Clausura tournament. Santa Fe made the elimination stage after winning its preliminary round group, losing to Chivas Guadalajara.


The stadium Nemesio Camacho "El Campin" is the venue where Independiente Santa Fe plays its home games. The stadium is located in Bogota.
