Atletico Bucaramanga fans and the press are fond of the nickname "Los Leopardos" (The Leopards). This name derives from the 1950s because of the yellowish resemblance to the animal's fur.
Due to the species of tree that gave the name to the city in which the team plays (Bucaro), it is also common to refer to Atletico Bucaramanga or his fans as "Los Bucaros".
