Weichafe is a Chilean heavy metal band from Santiago. The band was formed in 1997 by bassist Marcelo DaVenezia, guitarist Angelo Pierattini and drummer Mauricio Hidalgo. The band was formed due to the lack of a leading heavy metal band in the country, and nowadays they can arguably proclaim that they've taken the throne of chilean metal.
The band's name means "warrior" in mapudungun, language of the mapuches, the indigenous inhabitants of the mid-chilean territory.
