San Rafael Lagoon

San Rafael Lagoon is an arc-shaped coastal lake located in the Aisen Region of Chile, within the national park that bears its name. By the north the lagoon is connected to Moraleda Channel, by the south lies the Ofqui Isthmus. By west and east lies the Taitao Peninsula and the Northern Patagonian Ice Field respectively.

The Lagoon was formed by the retreat of the San Rafael Glacier in the Northern Patagonian Ice Field. Today it is popular tourism destination, and ships sails from Puerto Chacabuco and Puerto Montt to the lagoon nearly everyday to see the ice falling from the glacier into the lagoon.
