Carlos Tomada

Carlos Alfonso Tomada is an Argentine Peronist politician who serves as the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security. Tomada was appointed by former President Nestor Kirchner; he retained the position under President Cristina Fernandez.

Tomada's grandfather was a Socialist member of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies. He qualified as a lwayer at the University of Buenos Aires in 1973. He was active in the Peronist Youth, the youth wing of the Justicialist Party.

At the elections of 2007, Tomada headed the Front for Victory list of candidates for National Deputy for the city of Buenos Aires. [*] He was elected in October 2007. However, the newly elected President Cristina Fernandez reappointed him to his cabinet role and Tomada did not take his seat in Congress.
